INITIAL CAD + 3D PRINTS
The design of this toy came together rather quickly in only a few small rounds of edits with our factory so we quickly moved into 3D prints to help finetune the size and small details.
FINAL DETAILS
The final details I looked our was how we could really make this item pop and give a elevated premium feel to it as a "ATB" (Add To Box) toy. This is typically a higher price point toy that people need to buy into and add it into there existing box subscription. I landed on adding some gloss accents on key details of the toy.
SAMPLE MOLD LEARNINGS
In lab testing both with our external lab as well as play texting with real dogs. We found that due to the curvature on the bottom of the toy allowed for the dogs to target the x shape tabs on this toy.
THE FIX
In order to alleviate this issue I transitioned this toy to have a circular treat dispenser turning it from a treat stuffing play style to a slow feeder / kibble dispensing play style. This helps maximize the overall roll the toy naturally has due to its shape, while helping with over all durability since dogs cant target the x shaped flaps.
